“We’re a real, flesh-and-blood Rock and Roll band with people who’ve spent 40 years doing what we believe in.” – Paul Stanley
January 2013 marked four decades since Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, then members of a band called Wicked Lester, joined up with drummer Peter Criss and guitarist Ace Frehley to form KISS. Forty years later, having racked up 28 U.S. gold albums along with 40 million U.S. and 100 million in world sales, Simmons and Stanley, with longtime members guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer, return stronger than ever. Released through Universal Music Enterprises, Monster is the 20th studio album in their historic career.
The 12-song (plus bonus track), straight-ahead Rock ‘n’ Roll album features collaborations from all four members in an effort that shows KISS at the top of its game. Monster is the group’s first studio album since the band’s 2009 smash success Sonic Boom, and was also produced by Paul Stanley with Greg Collins at Conway Studios in Hollywood, CA, and The Nook in Studio City, CA. “We weren’t interested in making just a great KISS album, but a great Rock album that lived up to the bands we loved growing up,” explains Stanley, “the ones who got us to play music in the first place.”

“There are no symphony orchestras, boy choirs, keyboards, outside producers or guest songwriters,” boasts Simmons. “The best thing we did was turn inwards to ourselves.

Tommy and Eric have revitalized the group with a work ethic and the talent to back it up. This is a real band effort. KISS has become a behemoth. We are going where no Rock group has gone before.”

Monster represents KISS’ nod to the music that first inspired them to pick up their guitars and flame-throwers and don makeup to entertain millions. The group goes back to their own beginnings with the Who-like “Freak,” while Gene lives up the title track’s declaration on the raucus prehistoric Punk-Rock of “Back to the Stone Age” and the bludgeoning, self-referential “The Devil is Me.” “Take Me Down Below” is one of the KISS’ classic sexual double entendres in the mod of “Love Gun” or “Lick It Up.” Guitarist Thayer takes a solo turn on this own with “Outta This World,” a tribute to his KISS “spaceman” character, while drummer Singer provides the vocals (and the inspiration) for the Stanley-penned arena anthem “All for the Love of Rock & Roll.”

Along the overseas tour, Black Sabbath—Ozzy Ozbourne, tony Iommi and Geezer Butler– are previewing music from their forthcoming 13.  On the new album, due out June 11th, the band that defined Heavy Metal picks up immediately where they left off with eight sprawling songs (five of them are over eight minutes) that possess every ounce of the maniacal vitality of the Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ trailblazing work in the ’70s. Songs such as “End of the Beginning,” “Loner,” “Dear Father” and “Age of Reason” reinforce 13’s testament to the enduring relevance of Black Sabbath’s long-running reign.  Produced by Rick Rubin (seven-time Grammy
winner, two of those as Producer of the Year), 13 will be released on Vertigo (worldwide) and Vertigo/Republic in the U.S.
Here’s some critical feedback from Black Sabbath’s opening night:
New Zealand Herald (4-21-13) Black Sabbath brought together fans young and old…in horn-throwing, fist-pumping fashion…[Ozzy] jumped and stomped about the stage with passion and energy to burn. Could he still cut it? Yes, he could…Black Sabbath’s spark lit up the arena.”
Stuff.co.nz (4-21-13): “Black Sabbath still the kings…on a night when Sabbath proved just why they belong in the unique pantheon of true rock greats…you realize that catching Sabbath at this stage in their long career was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

One of a generation of British kids, drawn without rhyme or reason, to sounds from a far away world. A world of field holler, despair, Levee camp and chain- gang moans; of
Saturday night fish-fry and Juke Joint foot stomp. A million miles lay between the brooding pulse of Mississippi Delta life and the sanitized shelter of the timid English boy, circa 1962.
Fifty years on — drawing from a lifetime of adventures, tracking the dark, beautiful resonator, Plant follows his heart and lifts his voice higher and joyous ever away. A voice of experience and learning from the sounds of Southside Chicago Electric Blues; of Griot mantras from West Africa; from Louisiana Dance Halls; Greenwich Village Folk hangover; Haight Ashbury indulgences; Moroccan medina breakbeat; the early English radical techno materials, Texas two-step and Bristol Dubstep.
Before his recent projects in Nashville with Alison Krauss and Band of Joy, Plant worked alongside the very interesting force, “Strange Sensation”, recording the critically acclaimed, multi-Grammy nominated albums – Dreamland and Mighty Rearranger. From this platform, Sensational Space Shifters has developed. Now together these confederates and conspirators dig deeper and more intensely, always twisting and turning, bringing the past into a brilliant technicolour present.
The band is: Justin Adams – guitar, bendir, vocals;  John Baggott – keyboards; Juldeh Camara – ritti (one stringed African violin), kologo (African Banjo), talking drum, vocals; Billy Fuller – bass guitar, vocals; Dave Smith – drums and percussion; Liam “Skin” Tyson – guitar, vocals

The Doobie Brothers To Play The Theater At Mohegan Sun Arena

Long-time rock legends hit the stage on July 3rd. Tickets on sale April 12th.

The Doobie Brothers, who have sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, are scheduled to perform at The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, July 3rd at 8:00pm.
Tickets are $39.50 and go on sale Friday, April 12th through Ticketmaster at 10:00am.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, April 13th subject to availability. More details are also available at www.mohegansun.com/entertainment.
The Doobie Brother’s last album, World Gone Crazy, may be the band’s most remarkable for the extent to which it stands completely on its own. Yes, World Gone Crazy is another chapter in one of the great American music stories, but it’s neither comeback nor nostalgia. An exhibition of aggressive and emotional performances, evocative storytelling, unapologetic attitude and world-class musicianship, the collection is its own justification.
In a sense, World Gone Crazy is an analogy for the Doobie Brothers as a whole. With founding members Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons, and 30 year-plus veteran John McFee, the Doobies have perfectly honored the band’s legacy with an offering that grows in unexpected new directions.
The songs on World Gone Crazy all feature Johnston and Simmons as writers and lead vocalists. Adding dimension to the project, in some cases there were co-writers involved, as well as some notable contributions or “guest appearances” by other vocalists.
Aside from a few years of inactivity in the mid-eighties, the Doobie Brothers have continued to perform, create and record for over 21 consecutive years. “The Doobies have always been about playing live,” Johnston says. “We’re not a studio hot house group and we’re not a concept album. That’s the way it’s been from the very first album and that’s still the way it’s being done.”

The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena, located inside the award-winning Arena, will offer guests the opportunity to see some of their favorite artists in a more intimate, unique theatre-like setup. With seating up to 4,500, The Theater at Mohegan Sun Arena is another complement to the existing entertainment venues including The Wolf Den, The Cabaret Theatre and Mohegan Sun Arena.

Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked 3rd in the U.S. and 5th in the world by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 and 2010 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.”  Venues Today also ranked Mohegan Sun Arena #4 in 2011 and ranked in the top six of “Top Stops of The Decade” in 2012.
