The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority Names Tom Cantone as Senior Vice President of Sports & Entertainment


Uncasville, CT (August 26, 2013) – The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA) is pleased to announce the promotion of Tom Cantone to Senior Vice President of Sports & Entertainment for MTGA.  In this newly-created corporate position, Cantone will oversee all aspects of the entertainment offerings at all MTGA properties including Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Additionally, he will resume similar responsibilities at all future properties acquired and/or managed by MTGA and the Mohegan Gaming Advisors.
“This will give us substantial synergy to select, buy and route artists and tours using our own network of properties throughout the Northeast and will centralize our entertainment buying power  giving us  more efficient use of our entertainment programming,” said Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer for MTGA.
Cantone previously served as Vice President of Sports & Entertainment of the flagship property in Connecticut since 2007. Prior to Mohegan Sun, Cantone held senior management marketing positions at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Sands Hotel & Casino, Hershey Entertainment & Resort Co., Hollywood Casino and various Trump properties. He brings over 25 years of experience to his new role and is a graduate of Penn State University.

Renowned author Elin Hilderbrand to host Mohegan Sun's Winning Authors event on Sunday, August 18th


WHAT: Elin Hilderbrand, summertime-enthusiast and author of twelve beach-read romance novels, will be featured in a Winning Authors event on August 18th at Mohegan Sun with her most recent book, Beautiful Day.

IN DETAIL: She is the author of more than ten beach-read novels that captivate her readers with the summer-loving tales of beautiful Nantucket and on August 18th, Elin Hilderbrand is visiting Mohegan Sun with her new book, Beautiful Day, for a very special Winning Authors event.
The free event will kick off in The Cabaret Theatre at 3:00pm with a live discussion followed by a signing event at 3:30pm in The Shops concourse.  Beautiful Day was released on June 25th and will be available for purchase at Spin Street in The Shops concourse.  Hilderbrand is part of a list of outstanding authors that have participated in Winning Authors including Jerry West, Nora Roberts, Harlan Coben, Sue Grafton, Marcia Clark and Robin Cook.

ABOUT ELIN HILDERBRAND : Although born in Pennsylvania, Elin Hilderbrand looked forward to spending her childhood summers in Cape Cod with her family, playing games, adventuring around the beach and getting the perfect golden tan. When Hilderbrand’s father passed away when she was 16 years old, she spent that summer working in a costume factory warehouse, miles and miles away from her Cape Cod home. She promised herself that for the rest of her life she would always have a real summer.
After traveling extensively, Hilderbrand moved to Nantucket in 1993 and took a job as the “classified ads” writer at a local newspaper and later began her writing career. Hilderbrand is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the graduate fiction workshop at the University of Iowa.
Hilderbrand released her most recent book titled Beautiful Day, an emotional story of a Nantucket wedding that takes us into the heart of marriage, what it means to be faithful and how we choose to honor our commitments.

Mohegan Sun Launches All-New Hot Summer Fun Lineup

$500,000 cash is up for grabs along with weekly car giveaways, celebrity sightings, pool parties and the hottest tour stops

UNCASVILLE, CT  – Bigger. Better. Hotter. Just some of the words people will be saying about Mohegan Sun’s new Hot Summer Fun lineup. Now entering its 16th year, Mohegan Sun decided it was time to spice things up a bit. As part of this year’s revamped Hot Summer Fun celebrations, which kicks off June 23rd and runs through September 1st, there will be bigger fireworks displays, better giveaways and hotter entertainment.

Fireworks Extravaganzas

Mohegan Sun is making a bang this summer, and a big one, as they host three large Hot Summer Fun parties on the rooftop of the Riverview Garage. Open to all ages, the fun kicks off at 5:00pm and includes games for kids of all ages, carnival food favorites and samples of summer treats from CT based Farmers Cow, as well as Mohegan Sun’s Tiki Bar for guests 21+. These special celebrations will be held on Sunday, June 23rd to kick off Hot Summer Fun, on Thursday, July 25th and on Sunday, September 1st to wrap up summer. NOTE: Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Other various events will be taking place throughout the summer including Mohegan Sun’s Signature Events series. Mad-Dash Mondays

Over $500,000 cash is up for grabs this summer at Mohegan Sun with Mad-Dash Mondays. Starting June 24th, each Monday throughout the summer, 10 lucky Player’s Club members have the chance to walk away with their share of $50,000. Every half hour from Noon to 2:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm, one lucky Player’s Club member playing at their favorite slot machines will have a chance to enter the Cash Cube containing $5,000.

Take Two Tuesdays

Mohegan Sun will have you seeing double every Tuesday throughout the summer. Beginning Tuesday, June 25th, Player’s Club members playing their favorite slot machines will earn double points from 6:00am to Midnight. Not a gamer? Not a problem. Seasons Buffet will be having specials throughout the day. Cure the midweek blues with Spin to Win Wednesdays at Mohegan Sun. Each Wednesday beginning on June 26th from Noon to 8:00pm, Player’s Club members will have the opportunity to win at least $10.00 and up to $1,000 in Free Slot Play with PowerSpin, one of Mohegan Sun’s PowerPlay Bonusing features.
Guests can also enjoy the popular Wine Wednesdays. Free Ride Thursdays

What’s better than a car giveaway? How about 10! Throughout Hot Summer Fun, Mohegan Sun is giving away a car each Thursday beginning June 27th. To qualify, Player’s Club members just need to be playing their favorite slot machine or table game between Noon and 8:00pm. Each week, one lucky guest will walk away with a car, but they aren’t the only winner. Guests playing around the winner could also receive a $50.00 gas credit good at Mohegan Sun Mobil Gas Station & Convenience Store.
On Thursday nights, things heat up with the return of GLO At The Pool, New England’s only night-time pool party. What: One of Rock & Roll’s all-time powerhouse bands will be taking part in a special Walk of Fame ceremony outside the Mohegan Sun Box Office. Mötley Crüe will have a star placed alongside some of Mohegan Sun Arena’s most beloved talents, some of which include Bon Jovi, KISS, Rod Stewart, Toby Keith and Taylor Swift.  Their upcoming show marks Mötley Crüe’s third performance at Mohegan Sun Arena and they will also become the 25th entertainer inducted into the Walk of Fame.

IN DETAIL:  Mötley Crüe takes the Mohegan Sun Arena stage later in the evening on Saturday, May 18th, but hours before then, the band will be inducted into Mohegan Sun’s Walk of Fame.   The special induction ceremony will be held outside the main entrance of the Arena, near the Mohegan Sun Box Office.
The award seeks to recognize those individuals who have made significant contributions to the success of Mohegan Sun as the Northeast’s premier entertainment destination. Black Sabbath Confirm Full North American Tour; Play Mohegan Sun Arena on August 8th

UNCASVILLE, CT (April 25, 2013) — Following the overwhelming response to the initial announcement of just four tour dates, Black Sabbath have now confirmed a full 20-city North American trek.  The famed rockers play Mohegan Sun Arena on Thursday, August 8th at 7:30pm. Black Sabbath launched their world tour on April 20th with two shows in Auckland, NZ.  They are now in Australia for performances in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, before heading to Tokyo for the first-ever Ozzfest in Japan on May 12.
Along the overseas tour, Black Sabbath—Ozzy Ozbourne, tony Iommi and Geezer Butler– are previewing music from their forthcoming 13.  On the new album, due out June 11th, the band that defined Heavy Metal picks up immediately where they left off with eight sprawling songs (five of them are over eight minutes) that possess every ounce of the maniacal vitality of the Grammy-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees’ trailblazing work in the ’70s.
