New England’s 18-hole Championship Course to Host International “Caddies Only” Golf Tournament on Monday, August 29
UNCASVILLE, CT (July 1, 2016) – Mohegan Sun Golf Club announced this week that it will be the site for the inaugural World Caddie Matches presented by Beckmen Law. This one-of-kind event will take place on Monday, August 29th, when more than 40 PGA Tour caddies from around the world compete in a one day, two-round “Ryder Cup-style” format matches. The morning will feature modified alternate shot matches, followed by singles in the afternoon. This unique, first-ever World Caddie tournament will be open for the public to watch, and some of the PGA pro golfers are also expected to attend to support their caddies! Proceeds from the event will benefit K9s for Warriors, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing service canines to military veterans.
“On behalf of Beckmen Law, we are thrilled to kick-off the inaugural World Caddie Matches at Mohegan Sun Golf Club this summer,” said Scott Beckmen, Founder at Beckmen Law. “This is not only going to be an innovative event in the golf industry, as we are looking to gather the best professional golf caddies, but it will be a fun tournament for the public to watch while supporting a great cause.”
As part of the tournament, PGA Tour caddies from the U.S. and Europe will team up into foursomes which will be drawn at random during a pre-match Draw Party at Mohegan Sun on Sunday, August, 28th. Team captains for the U.S. include Steve Hulka, professional caddie to Brian Davis, “Fluff” Cowan, (Jim Furyk), and Joe LaCava, Tiger Wood’s caddie, as Vice-Captain. Captains representing the International team are Mark Fulcher, (Justin Rose) and Gareth Lord, (Henrik Stenson). Additional participants expected to play include Damon Green, (Zach Johnson); Andy Sanders, (Jimmy Walker); Teddy Scott, (Bubba Watson); Brett Waldman, (Charley Hoffman); Glenn Murray, (Sergio Garcia); Daisuke Shindo; (Hideki Matsuyama) and more.

New for 2016 is a fully revamped golf shop, redesign of the third hold green complex, a 15,000 square-foot natural practice tee with a pitching and bunker practice area, all-new GPS enabled golf carts and a new golf fitness room.

Additionally, as at every Barrett-Jackson event, charity was an important part of the weekend: more than $605,000 was raised for a variety of worthy causes through the sale of six charity cars. Carolina Panther Greg Olsen stepped up to the block to sell a 1969 Chevy Camaro for $100,000 to benefit his charity The HEARTest Yard, and the Zac Brown Band sold a custom 2015 Jeep Wrangler to raise $120,000 for Camp Southern Ground.
Barrett-Jackson’s vision to bring a collector car event to the Northeast region was realized with near unparalleled success for a first-time auction. The total number of bidders (over 1,700) surpassed initial projections, with a record-number registering for bidder credentials on-site. Auto enthusiasts and families traveled from across the U.S. and Canada to enjoy the event, which included special exhibits, vendors and activities such as Ford and Chevy Ride ’N Drives and Dodge Thrill Rides all three days. Renovated Room in Mohegan Sun’s Sky Tower Hotel in Uncasville, CT
Uncasville, Connecticut (June 16, 2016) – As construction progresses on Mohegan Sun’s 400-room, $130 million Earth Tower opening in fall 2016, Mohegan Sun announces a two year $50 million renovation project for the Sky Tower – the existing 1,200-room hotel that was introduced in 2002. Part of this initiative includes a multi-million dollar revamp and rebranding of the property’s existing spa, combined with a completely new Mandara Spa build out as part of the new Earth Tower. Continuously striving to offer guests the best amenities available, Mohegan Sun has announced the introduction of Victoria’s Secret to The Shops at Mohegan Sun, two new dining offerings and exclusive hybrid fusion games.
The Sky Renovation project, estimated at $50 million overall once completed, will encompass standard and junior suite room renovations including new carpeting, wall covers, casework furniture and fabrics. The rooms will also feature a brand new e-tray arrangement in lieu of a mini-bar, refrigerators, as well as an iPad, providing a multitude of services for guests including a compendium, thermostat adjustments, room service ordering and TV control. For guests’ convenience, a motion detecting light will be installed under the end tables, and will turn on automatically once guests step out of bed. The hotel corridors and lobby furniture will also be updated as part of the project.

In addition to the Sky Tower renovations, Hybrid Fusion games have launched inside Sunrise Square, with more to be installed in Casino of the Sky by the end of June 2016. A Hybrid Fusion game involves live blackjack, roulette and baccarat dealers’ hands to be broadcasted onto a monitor sitting in front of the player as well as a 50” screen above the stadium. This technology will allow players to play designated games of blackjack, roulette, or baccarat at the same time.

Gather six of your thirstiest, most competitive friends and build a team for the Olympub Games at Mohegan Sun on Saturday, August 13th! Teams face off in a variety of party games including cornhole, flip cup, quarters, pong and giant Jenga! This summer time party competition features a DJ, food trucks and a cash bar. Each team must complete each game and the winning team takes home a $100.00 Mohegan Sun gift card for each player!
Tickets for this 21+ event are $60.00 per team ($10.00 per player) and go on sale Friday, June 17th at the Mohegan Sun Box Office and during the team registration the day of the event. Tickets include one drink ticket and an Olympub Games shirt.

Free & Fun Fridays
