East Coast Gaming Destination Marks 15 Years with Month-Long Festivities
Uncasville, CT (August 25, 2011) – Mohegan Sun, one of the world’s largest and most spectacular gaming destinations, is getting ready to celebrate its 15th anniversary and is planning to do it in style. The festivities at the East Coast’s top entertainment hot spot will take place throughout the entire month of October but will culminate with a Gala Weekend October 21st – 23rd highlighted by a one-time-only special performance by Jennifer Lopez in Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, October 22nd created especially for this celebration. Ticket pricing and an on-sale date will be announced shortly.
The weekend will also feature a celebrity salute to Regis Philbin. Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Stephen Stills and Country star Dierks Bentley will also be performing free concerts in Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den on October 21st & 22nd, while the General Hospital soap stars of Port Chuck rock the house in The Cabaret Theatre on October 22nd.
Mohegan Sun will roll out the red carpet for special guests who will participate in public events including Buddy Valastro, The Cake Boss, celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Todd English and Jasper White, as well as Mary Murphy of So You Think You Can Dance. Several other celebrities will be on hand to participate in the festivities.
A signature cocktail will celebrate Mohegan Sun’s crystal anniversary and special hotel packages, gaming promotions, food specials and more will be announced shortly.

Dining deals throughout property September 12th – 18th
Mohegan Sun will host its very first Restaurant Week featuring delicious specials from Mohegan Sun-owned outlets and participating tenants starting Monday, September 12th and continuing until Sunday, September 18th.
Todd English’s Tuscany will prepare a three-course dinner starting with a choice of Flatbread or Salad followed by the main course offering a choice of Gnocchi, Spaghetti Polpettine, Pappardelle or Fettuccini Carbonara. It concludes with any dessert on the menu plus coffee. The special will be offered at $30.00 per person (plus tax) from 5:00pm to close, Monday through Friday and 4:00pm to close on Saturday & Sunday.
Birches Bar & Grill will offer a three-course meal that starts out with a choice of any Soup, Garden Salad or Caesar Salad. The entrée will be a choice of Shrimp Scampi, Rotisserie Roasted Half Chicken, Yankee Pot Roast or Steak Mac and Cheese. Guests can choose from New York Style Cheesecake or a Peanut Butter Bar for dessert. The meal will be offered at $25.00 per person (plus tax) from 11:00am to 11:00pm.
At Bar Americain, guests can savor a three-course meal starting with a choice of Corn Soup with Blue Crab, Chopped Salad or Gulf Shrimp & Grits for an appetizer. For entrées, Wild Bass (Florida Style), Smoked Chicken and Crepes with Asparagus, Ricotta and a Cherry Tomato Sauce will be available. Finally, a choice of Deep Dish Chocolate Cream Pie or Strawberry with Summer Fruit Shortcake for dessert will round out the meal. It will be offered at $40.00 per person (plus tax).
Michael Jordan’s Steak House’s special starts out with the choice of Steamed Prince Edward Island Mussels with Smoked Tomato Broth & Garlic Aioli or Toy Heirloom Tomatoes with Sweet Vidalia Onions, a Chervil Vinaigrette and Purple Opal Basil Purée as the appetizer. Then guests can choose the Ribeye, Chicken, or Shrimp with Pasta as their entrée. A Frozen Cappuccino with Orange Marscarpone and Chocolate Tuile or Local Farm Strawberries Madeline Shortcake with Fresh Whipped Cream will be the options for dessert. The special will be offered at $42.00 per person (plus tax).
Big Bubba’s BBQ will be offering a three-course meal including a choice of House Salad or Cup of Soup followed by a Chicken or Rib dinner with two sides, Cornbread and a choice of any dessert on the menu for $24.95 per person (plus tax).
Over at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, guests can partake in the Burger & Beer Special including any of their famous Burgers paired with a LandShark Lager, House Margarita or House Wine for the discounted price of $12.00 (plus tax).
At Michael Jordan’s 23.sportcafe, diners can choose one appetizer from their menu, then pick a Cobb Salad, 23.Burger, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, Fish & Chips or Roasted 1/2 Chicken as an entrée and finally indulge in either the Crispy Banana Spring Rolls or Slam Dunk Cake for dessert at only $23.00 a person (plus tax).

Both Lucky’s Lounge and The Dubliner will be offering guests the same delicious special. Diners can get a three-course lunch from the specials menu along with a choice of Soda, Coffee or Tea for only $15.00 (includes tax). This special is available from 11:30am to 4:00pm. Connecticut libraries will host a variety of local authors throughout summer with the finale to take place in The Cabaret Theatre on September 22nd
Mohegan Sun is excited to announce that The Connecticut Authors Trail, which consists of a consortium of libraries in eastern Connecticut in addition to featuring some of the most prominent and tale
nted authors who either live in or are associated with the Nutmeg State, will return for Its third straight year to Mohegan Sun. The event is set to take place in The Cabaret Theatre on Thursday, September 22nd, showcasing the incredible author, Jane Green. Other library signing dates will feature authors like Todd Gipstein, Jan Kardys, Janice Law, Tommy Coletti, Christine Whitehead, Rosemary Harris and David Howard.
British import Jane Green is the author of twelve best-selling novels, dealing with real women, real life, and all the things life throws at them, with her trademark wisdom, wit and warmth. Her first novel was a huge success in England and it would pave the way for a remarkable career in writing. From The Other Woman to Second Chance to the incredibly popular The Beach House, Jane has become synonymous with complex, character driven story telling that explores the concerns of real women’s lives. As well as writing a regular on JaneGreen.com, she contributes to various publications, both online and print, including Huffington Post, The Sunday Times and Self.
Her latest novel, Promises to Keep, was released earlier this year to critical and public acclaim. The book follows the happily married and much adored friend and relative Callie Perry through quite the journey as her life takes a huge turn when she receives a difficult diagnoses. Tickets now on-sale to general public for Mohegan Sun Event
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame today announced that tickets are now on sale for the 2011 Basketball Hall of Fame’s Tip-Off Tournament. The Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off will take place on Saturday, November 19, and Sunday, November 20 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Eight schools will compete in two four-team brackets over the weekend at one of the premier destinations in New England. Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster outlets and the Mohegan Sun Box Office.
Teams scheduled to compete in the 2011 Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off are: Long Island University (Northeast), Marist College (MAAC), Old Dominion University (CAA), Penn State University (Big Ten), Radford University (Big South), University of Kentucky (SEC), University of South Florida (Big East) and the University of Vermont (America East).

ABOUT LOUIS: Louis Van Amstel began dancing at an early age in his hometown of Amsterdam. When he moved to the U.S. in 2000, he quickly became the U.S. National Latin Dance Champion. He has earned twelve dance championships in all and several Emmy nominations for choreography. Dancing with the Stars fans have followed Louis’ moves since the series premiere in 2005. He has competed in eight seasons of the show partnering with celebrities like Margaret Cho, Priscilla Presley, Niecy Nash, Lisa Rinna and most recently, Kendra Wilkinson. He achieved 3rd place in season 9 with partner Kelly Osbourne.
ABOUT ANNA: Anna Trebunskaya started dancing at six years old in her native country of Russia and won her first competition at the age of seven. At seventeen, she moved to the U.S. with her parents who were also professional dancers. She first appeared on Dancing with the Stars in season 2 earning 2nd place with partner and football star, Jerry Rice. In the most recent season, she paired with boxing legend, Sugar Ray Leonard.
