Unwoke, KENNII and The Rakes compete for a $5,000 grand prize and a headlining show at the Wolf Den
UNCASVILLE, CT (December 11, 2023) – The final round of the 2023 Locals Live competition, hosted Mohegan Sun and Hall Communications, is here, and the winners of the previous three Locals Live rounds will compete for more than just bragging rights! A $5,000 grand prize and a headlining show on the main stage in the renowned Wolf Den are on the line as a champion will be crowned on Wednesday, December 13th. Major entertainers such as Thomas Rhett, LL Cool J, Gary Hoey, and North Stonington native Nick Bosse, the winner of last year’s Locals Live competition, have rocked the Wolf Den stage at Mohegan Sun.
Guest judges Carl Strube of Critque Records, Simone Oliva, of “Tip the Van”, and Locals Live 2022 winner Nick Bosse will play a pivotal role in deciding the official Locals Live 2023 champion. Prior to the competition, guests can enjoy a special performance by Nick Bosse. Bosse and The Northern Roots will be back on the Wolf Den stage Friday, December 15th for a free show kicking off at 8:00pm.

Unwoke
Unwoke is a three-piece Rock band based out of Montville, CT. The band formed in 2019, featuring Sean Higgins as the lead song writer, guitarist, and vocalist, and Dave Apanashk handling the bass and vocals. Joe Sardo is the man behind the drums.
Most would consider the trio a cross between Metal and Hard Rock. Some songs have a Metallica/Iron Maiden type of sound while others less Metal. The group specializes in Classic Rock covers for familiarity with their own original music mixed in.
KENNII
KENNII, also known as Kenny Araujo, is a 26-year-old R&B singer/songwriter from East Haven, CT. He started writing and singing in 2013 and has been chasing his dream ever since. KENNII was featured on NBC’s The Voice Season 5 where he auditioned for the four original judges. He unfortunately didn’t make it onto a team, but that didn’t stop him! KENNII went on to get a music manager out in New York City, leading to performances at the Miss Connecticut Pageant and News 8’s Good Morning Connecticut!
KENNI just released a single called “I Know” featuring Grammy nominated songwriter John Concepcion for his new album called “Infinity”, set to release on December 15, 2023.
The Rakes
The Rakes are a modern Country band that seamlessly weaves the tapestry of Country music’s rich history with a contemporary twist. Formed in 2015, this talented ensemble breathes new life into both classic and modern Country hits.
Hailing from Litchfield County, CT, The Rakes features Marc Poliquin on lead vocals, Frank Salerno on lead guitar, Chris Allan on rhythm guitar, Bob Sherman on bass, Scott Sullivan on drums, and Roberto Nicolia on keyboards. The Rakes cover a spectrum of Country legends, from the timeless tales of Johnny Cash to the iconic sounds of George Strait, and Brooks and Dunn. Admission to attend Locals Live is free, and all guests must be 21+ to enter the Wolf Den. Drink specials include $4 Michelob Ultras. Guests may line up no sooner than three hours before the show. Mark McGrath
When the band Sugar Ray’s breakthrough #1 hit song “Fly” put them on the map in 1997, lead vocalist and majority songwriter Mark McGrath was thrust into the public eye. It’s no doubt the band still maintains its momentum due in no small part to the good looks, charisma and talent of its front man, Mark McGrath.
Rob Base
Rob Base hails from Harlem, New York. He first began performing with various groups such as: Sure Shot Seven, Cosmic 3 MC’s, and Freedom Force. He and partner DJ EZ Rock, (whom he has known since the 4th grade) would eventually separate from the groups to form Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock. Their first single ‘DJ Interview’ came out on Mike and Dave’s label Star Maker’s Records in 1986. World to World Records would produce their second single ‘Make It Hot’ in 1987. Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock’s music began to gain momentum and they would receive a distribution deal with Profile Records by 1988.
Kid N Play
Christopher ‘Kid’ Reid originally from the Bronx and Christopher ‘Play’ Martin from Queens, New York met in the 1980’s. The pair were in rival Hip Hop crews The Turnout Brothers and The Super Lovers, and eventually formed their duo under the name The Fresh Force Crew. In 1986 ”She’s a Skeezer’’, “All Hail The Drum” and ”Rock Me” were recorded on Sultra Records By 1987 they had changed their name to Kid n Play.
All-4-One
The Grammy Award Winning group All-4-One is internationally known for making beautiful love songs that not only chart radio airwaves, but also garner countless awards. All-4-One’s very first single “So Much In Love,” scaled to RIAA Gold Sales and top 5 Pop status. The California based quartet soon marked their place in the industry as premier balladeers. Their second single, “I Swear“, claimed the billboard “Hot 100” #1 spot for 11 consecutive weeks, while sales sky rocketed to hold the #1 selling single status in 1994 and third most successful single of the Rock era.
Tone Loc
Tone Loc soared from obscurity into Pop stardom in 1989 when his hoarse voice and unmistakable delivery made the song “Wild Thing” (using a sample from Van Halen’s “Jamie’s Cryin'”) a massive hit winning Grammys and countless other awards. The song “Wild Thing” was co-written by Marvin Young, better known as Young MC, as was the second single smash, “Funky Cold Medina.” The album Loc-ed After Dark became the second rap release ever to top the Pop charts and one of the most popular of all time.
Color Me Badd
Color Me Badd is one of the top R&B vocal groups of all time. The group has sold 12 million records in the United States. Their debut album, C.M.B sold over 6 million copies worldwide and became certified Triple platinum in the United States. They have 3 number 1 singles and 17 top 20 singles. Color Me Badd has five hit singles from their debut album C.M.B. These were “I Wanna Sex You Up” (U.S. #2), “I Adore Mi Amor” (U.S. #1), “All 4 Love” (U.S. #1), “Thinkin’ Back” (U.S. #16) and “Slow Motion” (U.S. #18). “I Wanna Sex You Up” was also on the New Jack City soundtrack and hit number one in the United Kingdom.

Recipient of the 2018 Just for Laughs Comedy Festival “Stand-Up Comedian Of The Year” Award

Hannah Berner
Hannah Berner was born in Brooklyn, New York and emerged on the comedy scene by writing, directing, editing, and acting in videos on social media and writing viral tweets. She has two podcasts, Berner Phone and Giggly Squad with over 50 million combined downloads. She was a co-host on Bravo’s Chat Room, as well as a member of Bravo’s Summer House for three seasons, and has over 4 million followers across her social media platforms.
Through her viral digital series, Han on the Street, she has interviewed stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Hailey Bieber, Priyanka Chopra, Kesha, and the Jonas Brothers. She currently is on a theater tour across America for her stand-up comedy. In 2022, she was named one of Just For Laughs “New Faces Of Comedy” in Montreal. She was recently named one of Variety’s “Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2023”.
Michael Blaustein
Michael Blaustein is an internationally touring headlining comedian, accomplished actor, and award-winning writer. Michael co-hosts a very popular podcast called Stiff Socks with comedian Trevor Wallace. Stiff Socks is ranked in the top 50 of all comedy podcasts on iTunes and Spotify. He has performed at over 200 colleges worldwide and has been on the Comedy Central on Campus Tour, The College Humor Tour, and The Oddball Comedy Fest. Michael has performed at prestigious festivals such as JFL 42 and The New York Comedy Festival.
Michael can be seen on Amazon Prime’s original series Inside Jokes. Michael can also be seen on the last season of CBS’s Person of Interest. Jessica Kirson
Jessica Kirson is a powerhouse on stage. She’s a hilariously relatable performer of sheer silliness, vulnerability, and ridiculous characters. Her countless comedic character videos have racked up over 200 million views on social media. Her audience is multigenerational, creating an excuse for large groups of friends and families to spend a night out together. In an era where only 10% of all touring comedians are female, Jessica stands out as one of the strongest comedians regardless of gender.

Special presentation took place backstage; Group became 40th inductee
UNCASVILLE, CT (November 27, 2023) – Prior to the return of Trans-Siberian Orchestra’s (TSO) “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” to Mohegan Sun Arena yesterday evening, the Progressive Rock group was honored as the 40th Mohegan Sun Walk of Fame inductee.
TSO sold out the renowned 10,000-seat Arena for the 28th and 29th time in a row during two consecutive performances during the 2023 holiday tour. The group has played in front of over 190,000 dedicated fans since their first Mohegan Sun Arena appearance in 2003. “TSO has always been a fan favorite at Mohegan Sun Arena, said Tom Cantone, President of Sports and Entertainment at Mohegan. “Everyone in attendance receives an exhilarating, unforgettable experience from TSO whenever they are on property. “Every TSO show is a memory for life with your family and friends, and that’s what we do best.” Trans-Siberian Orchestra joins Thomas Rhett, Shinedown, Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift, and more as the latest inductee into the Mohegan Sun Arena Walk of Fame.

While seeking shelter from the cold, the teen is discovered by the theater’s caretaker who uses the ghosts and spirits from the building’s past to turn her life around. 311 was formed in 1990 in Omaha, Nebraska, featuring Nick Hexum (vocals/guitar), Chad Sexton (drums), Tim Mahoney (guitar), SA Martinez (vocals/DJ), and P-Nut (bass).
The group mixes Rock, Rap, Reggae & Funk into their own unique, hybrid sound, and 32 years later, the band is still regarded as one of the most entertaining & dynamic live bands in the U.S.

UNCASVILLE, CT (November 21, 2023) – To celebrate the end of 2023 and what’s to come in 2024, Mohegan Sun welcomes the return of Endless Midnight, featuring round-the-clock excitement on property from Thursday, December 28, 2023, through Monday, January 1, 2024. Over the course of four days, guests can experience live entertainment in Mohegan Sun Arena, the Wolf Den and Comix Roadhouse, plus exhilarating nightlife in Vista Lounge at Wombi Rock, Avalon Nightclub, The Lansdowne Irish Pub & Music House and GAME ON. The party doesn’t stop there! Guests can countdown to 2024 at various special events across property, including the New Year’s Eve Dinner Gala, New Year’s Eve Party on the Concourse, Party into the New Year, and the Great Gatsby Roaming Event.

Mohegan Sun Arena is ending the year on a high note! Starting Thursday, December 28th, Cirque Dreams Celebration is set to bring three nights of festive entertainment to Mohegan Sun Arena. Cirque Dreams Celebration features an ensemble of aerial circus acts, sleight-of-hand jugglers, fun-loving skippers, breath-catching acrobatics, and much more. This world-renowned cast of performers will be accompanied by an original music score, including new twists on seasonal favorites such as “Deck the Halls,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Singers, dancers, penguins, toy soldiers, and reindeer invoke the dreams behind a child’s eye on the most magical of nights. Amidst a backdrop of new sets, scenery, and storylines, this family-friendly production is sure to put a twinkle in your eye! All three shows begin at 7:00pm. Over at the Wolf Den, guests can experience three nights of free, live entertainment. On Friday, December 29th, Raise Your Hands: Bon Jovi Tribute, the premier tribute to the music & spirit of Bon Jovi, will kick off at 8:00pm and features both hits and deep catalog tracks. Karina Rykman brings her “Joyride Tour 2023” to the Wolf Den on Saturday, December 30th at 8:00pm, featuring her original take on Psychedelic Indie Rock. On Sunday, December 31st, widely popular ‘80s tribute band, RUBIX KUBE, wraps up 2023 with two shows at 8:00pm and 11:00pm! Comix Roadhouse will play host to five rounds of live entertainment, all on Sunday, December 31st! At 4:00pm, enjoy Spinnato’s Comedy Magic, featuring the perfect combination of sarcasm, magic and audience participation. Standup comedian and Impractical Jokers writer, Mike Finoia, will hit the Comix Roadhouse Comedy Club stage at 6:00pm and 8:00pm. On the Roadhouse side, American Honey is set to bring modern Country, Rock and Pop from the 90’s and beyond at 9:15pm. Comix Roadhouse will officially kiss 2023 goodbye with the Lipstick, Lashes and Lies: A Variety Drag Show featuring comedic sets, live singers, celebrity impersonations, dancing and more at 10:00pm. New Year’s Eve Special Events
On Sunday, December 31st, guests can let a magical adventure sweep them away with an enchanting sit-down dinner at the New Year’s Eve Dinner Gala in the Uncas Ballroom. A cocktail reception will take place from 6:00pm – 7:00pm with dinner immediately following from 7:00pm – 9:00pm. Music will be provided by Middle Eastern Music Ensemble. At 10:30pm, the Uncas Ballroom transforms for the ultimate NYE countdown at Party into the New Year. This extravagant New Year’s celebration gets underway with dancing and music by DJ Tom Macari and will also feature an open bar, a champagne toast at Midnight and a breakfast buffet to ring in 2024. Starting at 9:00pm, guests can countdown to 2024 with family and friends at The Shops at Mohegan Sun during the New Year’s Eve Party on the Concourse, hosted by Alexa Farrell from News 12 CT. The Shops Concourse will come alive when DJae Melee blasts the beats and DFX Entertainment perform their high-energy acts as guests countdown to Midnight, capping off with an incredible pyrotechnic display! Hats, horns and tiaras will be available at Summer and Winter Coat Checks, Sky Valet and other entrances starting at 5:00pm (limited quantities available while supplies last). novelle’s lavish NYE Celebration, the Great Gatsby Roaming Event, will feature live music all night long by DJ Flip, interactive roaming entertainers, a celebratory champagne toast at Midnight and full access to the Viennese Hour dessert bar and passed appetizers.
