Barrett-Jackson To Kick-Off 4th Annual Northeast Auction With Shell Family Day Featuring TechForce STEM Center

UNCASVILLE, CT (June 3, 2019) – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, will kick off its 4th Annual Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun on Wednesday, June 26th, with a special Shell Family Day powered by Pennzoil featuring free admission for high school students (with a valid school ID) and younger. Guests of this year’s Family Day will get an exclusive sneak peek of over 500 collector vehicles before they roll across the auction block, as well as access to the vast sponsor and exhibitor pavilion and the all-new TechForce STEM Center presented by Shell and powered by Pennzoil.

“Shell Family Day will set the perfect tone for our Northeast Auction,” said Craig Jackson, CEO and chairman of Barrett-Jackson. “In addition to the hundreds of collector cars and automobilia pieces on display, we’ll have many exciting activities planned for our guests. We especially want to encourage the next generation of car enthusiasts and collectors with fun and interactive learning exhibits. The TechForce STEM Center will do just that with hands-on activities designed to inspire today’s youth and give them a taste of the incredible opportunities available to them in our industry.”

The TechForce STEM Center, which will be open throughout the entire Northeast Auction, from June 26th-29th, is a 2,000-square-foot exhibition featuring hands-on activities that allow students to better understand automotive technology through the applications of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). TechForce Foundation is a not-for-profit charity with the mission of championing students to and through their education and into careers as professional technicians.

“Rather than show students automotive displays they can’t touch, we want them to give them a hands-on learning experience,” said Jennifer Maher, CEO of TechForce Foundation. “Our future workforce comprises tactile learners, which means they learn by doing. Our STEM Center will feature a number of stations designed to let students fidget with engines, pretend they’re changing a tire in a NASCAR pit, learn how to compare and contrast friction, resistance, weight and velocity in order to understand the laws of physics and how they relate to the automobile, and more. We are excited to give students the chance to immerse themselves in this exciting automotive world.”

Flat 12 Gallery will also be a part of the STEM Center and will showcase its SEMA Show car, a Volvo V06, which will be sold for charity at the 2020 Scottsdale Auction. Jeff Allen and Meg Bailey from the Skidmarks Show and The Car Chasers will be conducting autograph signings, V06 talks, meet-and-greets, and giveaways daily in the STEM Center. In addition, TechForce national board member Bogi Lateiner from MotorTrend’s All Girls Garage will be on hand to sign autographs and run some hands-on activities at the STEM Center on Friday and Saturday, June 28th & 29th.

Other opportunities during Family Day include the heart-pounding Ford Hot Laps and Dodge Thrill Rides, where this year a few lucky visitors will have the opportunity to ride along in an iconic Ford GT. The DIY Pavilion also returns, featuring live builds from Factory Five, hands-on demonstrations from Dannmar MaxJax, Bad Dog Tools, Cobra Torches and more.

Barrett-Jackson and GM to Auction the Last Production C7 Corvette to Benefit Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions, and General Motors will auction the last production C7 Chevrolet Corvette during the 4th Annual Northeast Auction, June 26-29, 2019, at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. The last production C7 Corvette will cross the block on Friday, June 28th, with 100 percent of the hammer price benefiting the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which supports the nation’s first responders and catastrophically injured service members.

“We’re honored that General Motors chose our Northeast Auction to sell this historic Corvette in support of the vitally important Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Where one chapter ends, another begins. The sale of this final production C7 Corvette Z06 will be the opportunity of a lifetime to own a piece of automotive history. While it marks the end of an era, it also ushers in the beginning of the next generation of America’s favorite sports car.”

The last C7 Corvette will be a black Z06 coupe with a 3LZ trim level to provide the ultimate sport and luxury experience. Powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 650 horsepower mated to a 7-speed manual transmission, this extraordinary Corvette will also feature a custom leather-wrapped interior package, Performance Data Recorder, navigation and Brembo brakes.

“Barrett-Jackson and General Motors made history when we sold the first-production C7 Stingray in 2013,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “During our Northeast Auction in June, we’ll close the chapter on the current generation Corvette with the sale of the last C7 Z06 that will be built by General Motors. I can’t think of a better way to usher in a new generation of Corvette than with the entire hammer price benefiting our nation’s bravest heroes.”

The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation was established in 2002 to honor the memory of Stephen Tiller, a New York City firefighter who lost his life on September 11th. The goal of the Foundation is to continue Stephen’s legacy through its programs that support our nation’s first responders and catastrophically injured military service members.

“General Motors and Chevrolet are proud to honor and support the brave men and women of our Armed Forces,” said Steve Hill, GM vice president of U.S. sales and service. “With the proceeds from the auction of this Corvette, we’ll offer additional financial support for our most severely wounded veterans through the Building for America’s Bravest program.”

The Last C7 Corvette will be sold on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.

Building for America’s Bravest is a program of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation that builds smart homes for catastrophically injured service members returning home. Each home is custom designed to address the unique needs of each individual. Energy efficient, automated and easily accessible, these homes use “adaptive technology” to help severely injured heroes live better, more independent lives.

  • More than 1,700 registered bidders vied for over $26 million dollars in collectible vehicles and automobilia
UNCASVILLE, CT (June 26, 2016) – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, created the ultimate high octane experience at its inaugural Northeast Auction on June 23-25, 2016, attracting high profile celebrities, captains of industry and sports stars among the record-setting 90,000 people who bought over $26 million in cars and automobilia at world-class entertainment destination Mohegan Sun. In a first for the 45-year-old company, Barrett-Jackson sold out of its weekend tickets within hours of opening on Thursday.
Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, comments, “Only at Barrett-Jackson can someone rub shoulders with celebs – including Carolina Panthers All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen, former NBA star Dan Gadzuric, Chef Buddy Valastro of “Cake Boss” fame, “Fast N’ Loud” host Richard Rawlings, Wayne Carini of “Chasing Classic Cars,” and actor and martial artist Chuck Zito – while bidding on some of the most collectible cars in the world. The anticipation for our event meant every seat in the arena was filled and we set many records over the weekend including the largest attendance for any event in Mohegan Sun’s history.”
From the spectacular and star-studded Opening Night Gala to the closing bid, the weekend was full of memorable moments, such as when “Cake Boss” star Buddy Valastro presented Craig Jackson with a custom replica cake inspired by his mother’s 1934 Cadillac coupe, which Jackson had purchased at the Scottsdale auction earlier this year (Valastro’s eleventh Carlo’s Bakery is located in Mohegan Sun). Additionally, as at every Barrett-Jackson event, charity was an important part of the weekend: more than $605,000 was raised for a variety of worthy causes through the sale of six charity cars. Carolina Panther Greg Olsen stepped up to the block to sell a 1969 Chevy Camaro for $100,000 to benefit his charity The HEARTest Yard, and the Zac Brown Band sold a custom 2015 Jeep Wrangler to raise $120,000 for Camp Southern Ground.
Barrett-Jackson’s vision to bring a collector car event to the Northeast region was realized with near unparalleled success for a first-time auction. The total number of bidders (over 1,700) surpassed initial projections, with a record-number registering for bidder credentials on-site.
