Jack Cavanaugh’s Latest Sports Memoir Giants Among Men Will Be The Center Of Conversation at Mohegan Sun

Author will discuss and sign copies of his latest book that chronicles the dynamic and awe inspiring New York Giants of the late 50s and early 60s on January 10th.

UNCASVILLE, CT (December 16 , 2008) – Mohegan Sun is proud to announce that the next installment of the exciting “Winning Authors” series will be with famed sports writer Jack Cavanaugh.  The acclaimed author who wrote the highly-received Tunney, has a new book Giants Among Men and is set to host a discussion on Saturday, January 10th in The Cabaret Theatre at 2:00pm to be followed by a signing in the Spring Gateway in The Shops concourse at 3:00pm.

Whether you are a big-time New York Giant football fan or a general sports enthusiast, you will enjoy Jack Cavanaugh’s latest sports tale which is the true story of an inspirational and close-knit team that would go on to change the NFL forever.  The hard-nosed  players led by World War II veteran and Hall of Fame defensive end Andy Robustelli were an invigorating, hard fighting team that represented one of the most legendary and historic eras of football.  Cavanaugh touches upon how this team was built around a collection of players who worked second jobs on top of battling on the gridiron every Sunday.  It was these traits that helped mold the unique bond between the players and fans of New York.  The glory years spanned from 1956-1963 where the Giants would play in six NFL Championship Games.  Jack Cavanaugh’s account of this special team which spawned the coaching gods Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi as well as launching the careers of future Hall-of-Famers Frank Gifford, Sam Huff, Emlen Tunnell and Pat Summerall is one of profound significance for not only sports but one that transcends into historic and cultural importance for a nation.
