Mohegan Sun Unveils “Time to Shine” Campaign

New integrated communications campaign engages guests with customized videos and itineraries while highlighting a million moments to be captured at Mohegan Sun
UNCASVILLE, CT  – Mohegan Sun, the premier entertainment and gaming destination on the East Coast, has launched a new integrated marketing communications campaign. One of the first of its kind in trending practices, as well as the first for the casino industry, the campaign called ‘Time to Shine’ captures and highlights the millions of special moments that are created at Mohegan Sun each day. The campaign, created by People, Ideas & Culture (PI&C) of New York, is uniquely engaging and personalized. In addition to a completely new multi-media advertising campaign, ‘Time to Shine’ also features a revolutionary, customized digital “experience concierge” called the Shine Maker.
“Our new ‘Time to Shine’ campaign perfectly captures the feeling of being at Mohegan Sun,” said Mitchell Etess, Chief Executive Officer for the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority. “An experience on property is only limited by your own imagination and there are literally millions of ways to find your own moment to shine here.”
At the center of the campaign is the Shine Maker, a digital tool to help customize, create and preview your very own Mohegan Sun moment. More than a trip planner or an app, Shine Maker personalizes the Mohegan Sun moment based on guest preferences accounting for your energy level, the occasion, chosen activities, and even their friends who may join them. The :60 to :90 second personalized video is created by answering just a few simple questions; based on the answers, Shine Maker creates a customized video which can be shared online with friends and through various social media pages including Facebook and Twitter. Guests can also download and print customized recommendations for their visit to Mohegan Sun.
“This integrated marketing campaign was built with one objective in mind: giving Mohegan Sun the credit it deserves as the most aspirational casino and entertainment destination in the Northeast,” said Domenico Vitale, Chief Idea Architect for PI&C. “The campaign platform ‘Time to Shine’ captures what Mohegan Sun has been providing to its guests for years: Mohegan Sun makes anyone who walks through its doors feel special and experience special moments; millions of special moments for millions of people every year.”
The new commercials, which show off the unique beauty and feeling of the property itself also demonstrate examples of special moments that can happen to guests while visiting Mohegan Sun.  The spots began running on May 14th during the Yankees vs. Red Sox game airing in spot markets including New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut on local stations and cable. You can also see the new commercials on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WHOJWC03uQc and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNmOAr69APE.  Experiential on-line digital advertising as well as traditional magazine, radio and billboard campaign ads launch simultaneously within similar markets, however New Yorkers and Bostonians will be treated to a little something extra experiencing massive transit station dominations by Mohegan Sun at both Bryant Park Station and Columbus Circle Station in New York starting May 16th and in Boston’s South Station June 1st.

Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den Headliners Announced For June

George Clinton takes the stage June 3rd
Chris Young performs on June 4th
Ryan Star is live on June 10th
Gin Blossoms rock the joint on June 17th
Blues Traveler heats things up on June 24th
The Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun has a variety of headliners this June, beginning with Funk legend George Clinton on Friday, June 3rd, followed by Country music artist Chris Young on Saturday, June 4th. Ryan Star brings his Rock tunes live in the Den on Friday, June 10th and Rock band Gin Blossoms will bring their hits to the Wolf Den stage on Friday, June 17th.  Finally, Blues Traveler arrives on Friday, June 24th.  Friday and Saturday Wolf Den shows begin at 8:00pm and Sunday shows are at 7:00pm unless otherwise noted.   Admission is free, but all guests must be 21 or over.
George Clinton is an American musician and the principal architect of P-Funk. He was the mastermind of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic during the 70s and early 80s and is a solo Funk artist as of 1981. He has been called one of the most important innovators of Funk music, next to James Brown and Sly Stone. Clinton is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.
With an ear toward the past and an eye on the future, Chris Young is quickly distinguishing himself as a newcomer who honors Country music’s best traditions while adding a fresh new chapter to the genre’s legacy. With his rich, warm baritone and penchant for writing relatable, slice–of–life songs, Young’s sophomore project, The Man I Want to Be – featuring his current smash single, “Gettin’ You Home” – is an album that showcases a new traditionalist poised to take his place among his musical heroes.
As the title of the New York rocker’s Atlantic debut provocatively suggests, Ryan Star’s whole life has been building to this point. The songs on 11:59 play out in real time, the stories spin out in narratives that resonate with urgency and truth. Star’s often stripped-bare vocals give the songs an added resonance.
The Gin Blossoms have undoubtedly left their mark on the Rock music map.  Hits like “Hey Jealousy,” “Found Out About You” and “Follow You Down” have earned the Gin Blossoms platinum albums and a Grammy nomination. The band’s fusion of melodic Rock, Folk and Country elements has paved the way for the modern Rock of today.
It’s not every band that’s still staking out new musical territory and embracing fresh challenges more than 24 years into their career, but that’s the case with Blues Traveler. Having long ago graduated from the jam-band underground to mainstream stardom, the iconoclastic combo has consistently stuck to its guns and played by its own rules. For their latest release (and Verve Forecast debut) North Hollywood Shootout, the quintet ventured out of their creative comfort zone to explore some adventurous new horizons. The resulting album is a landmark in Blues Traveler’s large and widely loved body of work, demonstrating the enduring strengths of the band’s songwriting while capturing the spontaneous spirit of their legendary live shows.

Soundgarden Brings 2011 Summer Tour To Mohegan Sun

Live at Mohegan Sun Arena on July 6th

The long awaited announcement of Soundgarden’s  first tour in over thirteen years is official and the Rock band is set to bring their 2011 Summer Tour with special guest Coheed and Cambria to Mohegan Sun Arena on Wednesday, July 6th at 7:30pm.
Tickets are $69.50 & $59.50 and go on sale Friday, May 13th at 10:00am through Ticketmaster.  Ticketmaster customers may log on to ticketmaster.com; call Ticketmaster’s national toll free Charge By Phone number 1.800.745.3000; or visit any Ticketmaster outlet.  Tickets will also be available at the Mohegan Sun Box Office starting Saturday, May 14th, subject to availability.
Like the iconic 60s and 70s bands which inspired them, Soundgarden redefined rock music for a whole generation and had a revolutionary impact on the course of musical history, while also leading trends in street style and graphic design.
Soundgarden’s roots go all the way back to1984.  Initially a drummer, Chris Cornell soon moved on to front the band, writing songs alongside guitarist Kim Thayil and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Their music was a jagged, sinister drone, its atonal ferocity deeply at odds with the synth-pop and hair metal which was then dominating the airwaves.
In April of 2011, Soundgarden announced their first tour in over 13 years, and announced to their fans that they were in the studio in Seattle working on new material.
Soundgarden will tour North America in July 2011, and head back into the studio to finish their first new LP in over 15 years.
Mohegan Sun Arena is ranked the 4th best venue by Billboard Magazine and was the 2008 and 2010 recipient of a Country Music Award for “Casino of The Year.”  For more information on concerts and other great events at Mohegan Sun, visit mohegansun.com.  For information on this week’s schedule, call the Entertainment and Special Events hotline at 1.888.226.7711, ext. 27163.
