Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment and FanDuel Group Launch Sports Betting in Connecticut

Mohegan Sun opens Retail Sports Betting with America’s #1 Sportsbook

UNCASVILLE, CT – September 30, 2021 – Today, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) and FanDuel Group launched a retail sports betting experience for residents and visitors to the state of Connecticut. To celebrate the launch of sports betting in Connecticut, a temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook retail location at Bow & Arrow Sports Bar opened to the public at 9:30am with a ribbon cutting ceremony that featured Connecticut Governor, Ned Lamont, who also placed a ceremonial first bet. Lamont placed the 1st legal sports bet in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook, which was $50.00 on the Connecticut Sun to win by more than 7.5 points tonight vs. the Chicago Sky.

Former NFL legends, Wayne Chrebet and Darius Butler, were also on hand to celebrate the launch of sports betting at Mohegan Sun. Chrebet placed a $20.00 wager on the Jets moneyline for their game this weekend against the Tennessee Titans, and Butler placed a $20..00 wager on the New England Patriots moneyline, hoping they notch a win against the Tampa Buccaneers on Sunday night.

Just in time for Week 4 of the NFL season, the temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook is conveniently located near the Autumn entrance at Mohegan Sun and features four live betting windows and nearly 50 self-service betting terminals. The companies anticipate opening the permanent Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook this winter in a fully revamped area where the Mohegan Sun Race Book was previously located. This signature sportsbook, which will be 11,000 square feet, featuring a 140 foot high-resolution video wall as well as a full bar and dining menu, has the potential to be one of the largest FanDuel sportsbooks in the United States. A Race Book section will still be featured within the new venue as well.

“To now be able to offer sports betting for Mohegan Sun guests is quite a thrill and a milestone that was a long time in the making,” said Jeff Hamilton, President and General Manager of Mohegan Sun. “This day wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and tireless work from our parent company, MGE, my incredible team at Mohegan Sun, leadership with the Mohegan Tribe, Governor Lamont and the State of Connecticut, and our partners at FanDuel Group. This gaming expansion will bring jobs, excitement and other positive economic impacts to Mohegan Sun and across Connecticut, and we can’t wait to hit the ground running.”

Sports bettors and guests visiting Mohegan Sun will be able to enjoy a FanDuel Sportsbook retail experience that fans in other states have grown to love, featuring an incredible game-day atmosphere with wagering options available across a variety of sporting events. FanDuel will provide its proprietary risk and trading technology that leverages the IGT PlaySports platform to offer bets on all major U.S. sports, including professional football, basketball, baseball, tennis, MMA, boxing, soccer, golf, motorsports and more.

After launching today in Connecticut, MGE and FanDuel will collaborate on the online casino experience under the Mohegan Sun brand, with more details on an official online launch date to be provided soon.

Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment Selects Kambi Group plc as Mohegan Sun Connecticut’s Sports Betting Partner

UNCASVILLE, CT (March 27, 2019) – Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) has signed an agreement with Kambi Group plc to provide online and on-property betting products to MGE’s signature U.S. integrated entertainment resort located in Connecticut.

Following a competitive process, MGE selected Kambi in part due to its track-record of lawful and responsible delivery in the U.S., including the quality and flexibility of its sports wagering products, trading and risk management capabilities and unrivalled speed to market – both online and on-property.

Since the repeal if the federal sports betting ban in the U.S. last May, Kambi has built a leading position in two of the largest states to have regulated thus far; New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as processing the historic first legal online wager in the country outside of Nevada.

While sports wagering has yet to be regulated on an intrastate basis in Connecticut, Mohegan Sun supports pending state legislation to legalize the activity as early as this year. Under existing tribal-state agreements between the Mohegan Tribe and the State of Connecticut and similar agreements with the other federally recognized tribe in the state, commercial casino games are operated exclusively by the two federally recognized tribes.

In the meantime, the Kambi Sportsbook will be integrated into Mohegan Sun’s iPro gaming platform to power a free-to-play sportsbook, enabling Mohegan Sun guests to familiarize themselves with the Kambi product ahead of a regulated real-money launch.

Due to the uncertain regulatory timetable, Kambi is unable to guide on what impact, if any, the deal will have on its 2019 revenues, however, the strategic alliance is expected to generate material income in future years.

Kristian Nylén, Kambi Chief Executive Officer, said, “Kambi’s strategy in the US is to partner with the biggest and best gaming operators each state has to offer. In Mohegan Sun, not only have we partnered with one of the two largest casinos in Connecticut, but also one of the leading gaming and entertainment destinations across the whole of the country.”

Aviram Alroy, VP of Interactive Gaming for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, said; “Mohegan Sun’s goal is to utilize our brand and strong presence in the state and after a long vetting process, we found that Kambi was best positioned to complement that, as they’re the most sophisticated and comprehensive Sportsbook out there.

“That, along with a highly experienced and responsive team, placed Kambi well above the competition in the selection of a sports betting strategic partner in Connecticut.”
