Mohegan Sun opens Retail Sports Betting with America’s #1 Sportsbook
UNCASVILLE, CT – September 30, 2021 – Today, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE) and FanDuel Group launched a retail sports betting experience for residents and visitors to the state of Connecticut. To celebrate the launch of sports betting in Connecticut, a temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook retail location at Bow & Arrow Sports Bar opened to the public at 9:30am with a ribbon cutting ceremony that featured Connecticut Governor, Ned Lamont, who also placed a ceremonial first bet. Lamont placed the 1st legal sports bet in Connecticut at the Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook, which was $50.00 on the Connecticut Sun to win by more than 7.5 points tonight vs. the Chicago Sky.
Former NFL legends, Wayne Chrebet and Darius Butler, were also on hand to celebrate the launch of sports betting at Mohegan Sun. Chrebet placed a $20.00 wager on the Jets moneyline for their game this weekend against the Tennessee Titans, and Butler placed a $20..00 wager on the New England Patriots moneyline, hoping they notch a win against the Tampa Buccaneers on Sunday night.
Just in time for Week 4 of the NFL season, the temporary Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook is conveniently located near the Autumn entrance at Mohegan Sun and features four live betting windows and nearly 50 self-service betting terminals. The companies anticipate opening the permanent Mohegan Sun FanDuel Sportsbook this winter in a fully revamped area where the Mohegan Sun Race Book was previously located. This signature sportsbook, which will be 11,000 square feet, featuring a 140 foot high-resolution video wall as well as a full bar and dining menu, has the potential to be one of the largest FanDuel sportsbooks in the United States. A Race Book section will still be featured within the new venue as well.

Tickets for Pentatonix: The Evergreen Christmas Tour 2021 go on sale this Friday, October 1st
Three-time Grammy Award®-winning and multi-platinum selling group Pentatonix is bringing the holiday spirit to Mohegan Sun Arena on December 4th at 8:00pm. Pentatonix: The Evergreen Christmas Tour 2021celebrates the quintet’s sixth holiday themed album, Evergreen, which will be released on October 29th.

The tour requires all attendees to have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours, or be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (at least two weeks after final dose) and provide proof of vaccination prior to entering the venue. Unvaccinated fans under 12 years of age will be required to take a COVID-19 diagnostic test within 72 hours before the event and must provide proof of negative result prior to entering venue. The America’s Got Talent judge and Deal or No Deal host brings live comedy to Mohegan Sun Arena on December 11th
Comedian and television host Howie Mandel returns to Mohegan Sun Arena for one hilarious night on Saturday, December 11th at 7:30pm.

Howie Mandel has remained a constant force in show business for more than 30 years. He can currently be seen on NBC’s flagship series America’s Got Talent, where he has served as a judge for eleven seasons. He recently finished production on his new documentary Howie Mandel: But Enough About Me. Other recent projects include judging NBC’s America’s Got Talent: The Champions, CNBC’s Deal or No Deal, where he served as executive producer and host, and Nat Geo Wild’s Animals Doing Things, which he co-hosted with his son Alex. UNCASVILLE, CT (August 31, 2021) — The Wednesday, November 10th Dave Matthews Band show at Mohegan Sun Arena has been rescheduled to Monday, November 8th. The Tuesday, November 9th Dave Matthews Band performance will remain the same. Tickets for the November 10th show will be honored for the new date on November 8th. Refunds will also be available at the point of purchase for fans who cannot attend the rescheduled date. Refund requests must be submitted by 10:00am ET on Tuesday, September 7th.
Please note that for both of these performances, the Event Organizer will require ticket holders to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (original vaccination card or a printed copy from at least two weeks after final dose) or a negative test taken within 48-hours prior to entry at Mohegan Sun Arena. Ticket holders using a negative test for entry will not need to get subsequent tests if they are attending both shows.

this year, the First Annual “Innovator of the Year Award.” This award is designed to recognize our entertainment industry’s most innovative organizations, who pave new paths and initiatives to creatively bring new business and productivity to our industry.
This year’s recipient: Tom Cantone, President of Sports and Entertainment, Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment (MGE); is largely responsible for revolutionizing casino entertainment to one of the most ambitious and wide-reaching on the planet. Tom’s career spans over many years spent in the gaming and entertainment industry. Currently Cantone has been at Mohegan Sun for 14 years.
2020 caused us all to take a step back and find ways to stay relevant and reimagine how to stay open and keep staff employed. “Our first recipient embodied all these accomplishments by creating a remarkable story of historic significance during the height of the pandemic that shut down the world” stated Marc Gentilella, President/CEO of CelebrityAccess.
Mohegan Sun Arena, part of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment’s (MGE) network of properties worldwide, never actually closed during the pandemic; Mohegan Sun partnered with ViacomCBS to broadcast a series of “Bubble” broadcasts from the facility that brought SHOWTIME Boxing and Bellator MMA events to over 12 million television screens and streaming viewers all over the world.
“We found a way to stay relevant during historic times,” Cantone says. “We could have sat it out and waited but we took advantage of opportunity that comes with a crisis. We were able to keep a lot of people working and kept the venue alive and well with non-stop programming to viewers around the world. Live From Mohegan Sun Arena were 5 special words people looked forward to every week”.
These efforts caused CelebrityAccess to name Cantone and MGE Properties, Innovator of the Year for 2020.
“This recognition is shared with great respect and empathy for all our Team Members at Mohegan Sun,” Cantone says. “At a time of uncharted territory and personal risk, they found a way to show the world what leaders do best even during an historic pandemic.”
In a huge step, Mohegan Sun Arena is now open for live audiences that included hosting a private concert to show player appreciation for Mohegan Sun and to provide a chance for ticket-takers, security, vendors and other employees to reacquaint themselves with the routines of live events and focus on Guest Service.
“It was such a great night,” Cantone says. “People were hugging each other and there was a genuine sense of rejuvenation. I think we all realized how much the people who work in the Arena and throughout the property realize this is a great place to work. It sounds corny, but we’re back to making memories.”
To date, Mohegan Sun Arena has over three dozen concerts, sporting events and performances scheduled for the Arena into December. They include Brantley Gilbert, Blake Shelton, Harry Styles, Sebastian Maniscalco, the Dave Matthews Band and the Doobie Brothers with Michael McDonald
New events will continue to be announced, Cantone says, and we have secured a commitment to host the Miss America pageant for the next three years. Justin Bieber, The Weekend and Brad Paisley have each also confirmed for shows in 2022.
