Country music legend Tanya Tucker to meet fans and sign autographs on October 18th

UNCASVILLE, CT (October 15, 2009)— Spin Street and Mohegan Sun welcome one of Country music’s favorite voices, Tanya Tucker, when she participates in a rare CD signing on October 18th.   Following Tanya’s free 7:00pm Wolf Den performance, she will visit the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun to meet fans and sign copies of her latest release My Turn.  Tucker’s My Turn will be available for purchase in Spin Street leading up to and on the day of the event.  All Signings & Sightings are free and open to the public.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tanya Tucker’s new album My Turn has been critically touted as one of the must-have Country albums of 2009 and hit #27 on the Billboard Country Music charts shortly after its release.  Tucker is known to be one of the most popular female singers to come out of the “Outlaw Country” movement of the 70s along the likes of Willie Nelson and Hank Williams Jr.  During this time period, Tucker enlisted a string of hit records including her first #1 hit single “What’s Your Mama’s Name” in 1973 and 1975’s “Lizzie and The Rainman.” With an incredible career spanning over three decades, Tucker has won numerous awards including “Top New Female Artist” in 1972 from the Academy of Country Music, “Female Vocalist of the Year” in 1991 from the Country Music Association and in 2002 was ranked #20 on CMT’s 40 Greatest Women of Country Music.

This free personal appearance and signing will take place on the Spin Street Stage in The Shops at Mohegan Sun immediately following the performance with special guest Angel Taylor in the Wolf Den on Friday, October 23rd at 8:00pm.  All Signings & Sightings are free and open to the public. 

ABOUT THE ARTIST
The spirited songwriter, singer and pianist John Ondrasik has had two platinum-selling albums including the 2000 release and hugely successful America Town, which featured the Grammy-nominated smash “Superman (It’s Not Easy).”  Five For Fighting followed up America Town with The Battle For Everything LP which featured his second biggest hit to date, “100 Years.”  Their new album entitled Slice was released on October 13th and features the single “Chances” which was recently performed live on CBS’s The Early Show.  Five For Fighting’s new CD Slice is available now at Spin Street as well as on the day of the event.

The Uncas Ballroom will be showcasing all the top races on the big screens for the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships

UNCASVILLE, CT (October 14, 2009) – Mohegan Sun is set to host a special party for one of horse racing’s most prestigious events, the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Championships slated for Saturday, November 7th.  The 2009 Breeders’ Cup party will be held in the spacious and elegant Uncas Ballroom, doors will open at 10:00am.

All eight of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championship races from Oak Tree at Santa Anita Park will be showcased on the seven big screens in the Uncas Ballroom at Mohegan Sun.  The main and final race, the Breeders’ Cup Classic with $5 million up for grabs will begin at 6:45pm.  The Breeders’ Cup returns for a second straight year to Santa Anita.  As the richest prize-money event in sports, totaling over 25 million, the Breeders’ Cup features the best of the best in thoroughbred horses from North America and Europe.

Mohegan Sun is thrilled to be welcoming Dave Johnson and co-host Bill Finley from Sirius XM’s popular “Down the Stretch” radio show for a live all-day broadcast from the Ballroom.  Also joining the festivities will be 9-time Breeders’ Cup Champ and Hall of Fame Jockey, Chris McCarron.  Dave, Bill, and Chris will all be on-hand in the Race Book on Friday, November 6th for a meet and greet and to sign autographs.

All guests who make a $25.00 wager will receive an official Breeders’ Cup T-Shirt and with any $50.00 wager will also receive a pass to the Breeders’ Cup Buffet. Guests who choose to take advantage of advance wagering on Friday, November 6th for the Saturday, November 7th Breeders’ Cup races will receive an official Breeders’ Cup cap with a $25.00 wager.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early for Mohegan Sun’s Breeders’ Cup Party in the Uncas Ballroom as space is limited and available on a “first-come, first served” basis.  Seating will be limited to the first 1,000 customers.  Additional standing room will be available but will be limited.  Must be 21 or older to participate.
